This play may be a work in progress, but it already is a big highlight of Brighton Fringe with a very strong future ahead of it. This is one to watch out for and is not for those who are easily triggered by trauma.

Our next performance is at Camden Fringe Festival, August 10th/11th/12th/13th

Our next stage of development will be to focus on accessibility for audience members who have sight or hearing challenges, if you would like to work with us on this, get in touch.

Eire and Louise are proud to present their debut play for Unfiltered Productions

The entire play takes place in Alice’s living room, over the course of one special day. Alice has elected to celebrate her 50th Birthday with just her faithful companion, Milly. She is attempting to reclaim her 10th Birthday Party which never happened. Alice has arranged for interactions with the outside world on this day but will they help keep her from spiralling into the past too much ?

TRIGGER WARNING:

The content of this play/video footage contains references to child sexual abuse, mental health challenges and voice hearing.

What was our Intention ?

To create a piece of theatre that articulates and raises awareness of adult survivors of child abuse and subsequent mental health issues that they may experience.

Our Process through lockdown:

We are all freelance theatre makers, so when the lockdown happened our work stopped overnight. On the flip side of this, the lockdown did offer us time to research, research, research! Through this extensive period we made a lot of contacts with local, national and international partners and individuals who shared their stories, experience and their expertise. This resulted in 3 online focus groups with people from New York state, New Zealand and across the UK. We are extremely honoured and grateful for their time.

We would like to give special thanks to Daniel, Dr Lois Oppenheim & Dr Alice Maher of Hot Stove Projects, Kate Crawford & Peter Bullimore of the National Paranoia Network, Mental Health Advocate Debra Lamshire, and the UK mental health professionals who helped make this work what it is today.

Early lockdown and social distancing meant that our face-to-face rehearsals were curtailed and the majority of our work together has taken place on Zoom. During the final part of our research, we received Arts Council Funding. At present we are unfunded. Our aim is to tour the play nationally both at arts and educational settings, If you would like to support ust please get in touch.

Invite us to perform at your workplace or local theatre

We aim to perform this play to students within the NHS, social working schools/ support agencies and justice services, if you would like to book us for a performance, workshop and Q & A we will be touring from March 2022. The play is 55 minutes long.
